Online Law School Technical Requirements and Computer Requirements

OUR ONLINE PLATFORM SUPPORTS AVERAGE COMPUTER USERS: NO TECHNOLOGY GURU SKILLS NEEDED

The Concord Law School online platform is easy and intuitive for most students to use and navigate through, without any specialized technology background needed. However, there are minimum system and internet specifications, as well as baseline computer skills you’ll need to ensure a productive learning experience at Concord. Please check each point below to make sure you have the proper equipment and are comfortable with our requirements:

PC SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  • Windows 7 or a more recent version with the operating system’s recommended requirements for processor and hard drive (see the Microsoft website for additional requirements; Windows Surface tablets [Windows RT] are not supported)
  • A printer
  • A USB headset microphone
  • A webcam (please note not all professors are currently using a webcam; however, opportunities for this type of interaction will increase)
  • 4 gigabytes (4 GB) of system memory
PC SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
  • Internet Explorer 9.0 or higher or the most recent version of Firefox (Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Safari, and Opera are currently not supported)
  • The latest version of Adobe Flash Player
  • DigiCert Personal Digital Certificate
  • Microsoft Word 2007 or newer
  • The latest version of Adobe Reader
  • A current antivirus application with up-to-date virus definitions and a current antispyware program
APPLE MACINTOSH SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  • Mac OS X 10.8 or a more recent version with the operating system’s recommended requirements for processor, memory, and hard drive (See the Apple website for minimum requirements)
  • Intel-based processor
  • A printer
  • A USB headset microphone
  • A webcam (please note not all professors are currently using a webcam; however, opportunities for this type of interaction will increase)
  • 4 gigabytes (4 GB) of system memory
APPLE MACINTOSH SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
  • The most recent version of Firefox (Google Chrome, Safari, and Opera are currently not supported)
  • The latest version of Adobe Flash Player

  • The latest version of Adobe Reader
  • A current antivirus application with up-to-date virus definitions and a current antispyware program
INTERNET CONNECTION
  • A dedicated, reliable connection to the Internet: 1.5 Mbps modem or faster. Broadband connection preferred
  • An email address for exclusive use of the student that will accept all emails, including attachments, from the domain name concord.kaplan.edu (Note: Students are presumed to receive the messages sent to designated email addresses. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that messages from Concord Law School are not blocked and that the mailbox is not too full to receive messages.)
  • It is the responsibility of the student to have constant and reliable access to a network that won’t block Flash content. (NOTE: Some private, company, military, and governmental networks may block Flash content due to security and bandwidth concerns.)
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
  • Ability to use email to correspond with faculty, staff, and students
  • Ability to access, create, and save documents in Microsoft Word (this includes the ability to cut-and-paste, edit documents, and search for files)
  • Ability to browse the web
  • Ability to run anti-virus and anti-spyware applications to ensure that files are virus free
  •  Ability to open .pdf files
  • Ability to play Adobe Flash Player files

While these specifications are current as of today, computer and software requirements may change as technology evolves, which may result in discontinued support for older versions of a product.
